VARNEY: “California Governor Gavin Newsom has confirmed that he’s meeting with radical Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed today. What does Newsom achieve with this trip to Michigan? Does he want to be seen as the party unifier?”
FINLEY: “Well, I think this is a terrible look for him because he’s kind of trying to get on the bandwagon a little belatedly. He didn’t go out there supporting him before the primary. It was only after he won — El-Sayed won the primary that Gavin Newsom is going out there, which shows that he’s — he’s not really doing this to support El-Sayed, he’s really doing this to promote his own presidential ambitions. And he sees that the energy in the Democratic Party is moving left, and he wants to capture that energy.”
