Allysia Finley on the Billionaire Tax: Gavin Newsom Has Not Been Campaigning Very Hard Against It

FINLEY: "Right now it shows the most recent public policies through the California ball 54% support among the broader public and 76% among Democrats. I think this is one reason why Gavin Newsom has not been campaigning very hard against it. He has come out in opposition partly because a lot of his donors and donors he’s hoping for the 28 presidential run are opposed to it. He actually has not made a very strong principled standing against it. Now, I think there’s going to be a lot of money coming in, and opposition against the wealth tax among those who will be affected by it. But I think the campaign is just starting. We could see those numbers will move as opponents campaigned against it."
