Justin Wolfers: Jobs Numbers Suggest Economy ‘Potentially’ Shrunk as Growth Slows
RUSH EXCERPT:
WOLFERS: “It’s totally weird, mate. So look, today I like to be an optimist. I like to be a happy bloke. I like to smile. I couldn’t, I couldn’t crack a smile all day. What we learned was that the economy this month not only slowed, but potentially the number of jobs we had shrunk. Worse, actually, is that we learned what it looked like. An early estimates that suggest it was a pretty good few months actually weren’t. so we really slipped, maybe from hoping that we were in a minus category to barely being in the bees. And I want to remind people just how much grade inflation there is these days. And then you’ve got happy Kevin out there just smiling and saying, it’s all about the world cup. Kevin, if you’D watched the world cup, you’D understand. A bunch of it occurred in Mexico, a bunch of it was in Canada that the stadiums were smaller than the stadium in my small college town, and there weren’t that many games, even if there were."
