Rep. Kevin Kiley: ‘Separation of Powers’ Is Working as Congress and Courts Challenge Trump’s Ballroom Project

KILEY: “Right? Yeah. And so we actually have done something and you in your opening remarks, which is that there was a proposal to put $1 billion in one of these reconciliation bills for the ballroom and myself and a number of others said, absolutely not. This is not something that we‘re going to do. And so the money fell out of that bill. And so now you have questions arising from both the courts and from Congress. And so you‘re seeing signs of separation of powers working the way that it should. Now, there have been statutes passed by Congress that give the president some authority over executive improvements. The question is whether, you know, that extends to something this large and permanent.”
