Scott Jennings: If I Were a Democrat, I Wouldn’t Be Comfortable with a Small Lead in the National Generic Ballot Right Now

JENNINGS: “Well, look, trying to measure who‘s mad at who and how that‘s going to affect their vote. I mean, it‘s a little bit of a witch‘s cauldron. It‘s entirely possible that more Republicans would trust President Trump to set the agenda for the party than they would prefer congressional leadership do that. In fact, I think that‘s quite likely. But it‘s also true in the job approval ratings overall that President Trump has dipped some in the middle of this term. And it‘s also true that Congress generally has a very, very low approval rating, just as an institution. And at the end of the day, the debate is over. Which party do you think can take the country in a direction that would make your life better? And that‘s really where the fight is. Democrats have a small lead on the national generic ballot right now, but I wouldn‘t be too comfortable with it if I were the Democrats. It‘s not a very big lead at all.”
