Joe Morelle: Democrats Around the Country Are Mobilizing ‘to Mitigate the Threat that Is Donald Trump’

MORELLE: “In their community. When is the earliest point at which they can vote? So it would be irresponsible, given the history of the president trying to overthrow the government in January of 2021, of all the attacks, whether it’s the safe act or his efforts to issue executive orders. So I don’t want to confuse it. I have great confidence it’s going to work, but it’s not going to work without us making sure we’re doing every single thing we can to mitigate the threat that is Donald Trump, and to make sure that we’re prepared and we are preparing. And whether it’s tabletop exercises that I’m engaged in regularly, or it’s going through the various threat assessments that we’re making, making sure we have mitigation plans, that we have response plans and that we’re working with, as I said, literally hundreds of groups and tens of thousands of people around this country who are mobilizing right now. So I don’t want to suggest that it would be irresponsible, but I have confidence when I cross the street, I’m not going to.”
