Sen. Josh Hawley Says Tony Fauci Can’t Have Total Immunity and Also Refuse to Answer Senators’ Questions in a Hearing

HAWLEY: "I hope so. We’re going to vote tomorrow, I believe it is, tomorrow morning to hold him in contempt, and my team is working right now on a memo to Blanche explaining why we think that he could be prosecuted for contempt of Congress. He’s not entitled to immunity, taking the Fifth, when he already has a pardon. It's one or the other. Listen, if he would like to give up his pardon, then I will grant him he can invoke the Fifth. You know what, I’d even be willing to say — to advocate that we have another hearing. If he'd like to give up his pardon and renounce it, we will have another hearing and he can come back in. But unless he does that, you can’t do both. You can’t say, 'I got total immunity, but I will not answer your questions.' He needs to answer the questions. It's the least thing you can do to the American public. A million people died of Covid. You know, this guy can't even answer questions, can't say what color his tie is? Come on. Come on. Plus, he got rich off of it, as we know. It's terrible."
