Abdul El-Sayed: ‘I’m Not a Socialist But I Am a Scientist’

‘I think the questions that people are asking is, ‘who‘s going to help me afford my housing?’’

EXCERPT:

EL-SAYED: "Look, I think we built a movement around the idea that we can get money out of politics, put money in pockets, pass Medicare-for-all. I think right now, the question that people are asking is not where do you stand on the left right spectrum on a series of issues that people talk about on CNN. I think the questions that people are asking is, 'Who‘s going to help me afford my housing? Who‘s going to help me afford my groceries? Who‘s going to make sure I can see a doctor if I get sick?' I‘m interested in answering those questions. I‘m not a socialist, but I am a scientist, so I like empirically-driven answers to hard problems, I like to solve them."
