Mass. Gov. Healey Vows to Protect Illegal Immigrants: ‘ICE Is Making Us Less Safe’

‘The law I’m signing today is a public safety law’

EXCERPT:

HEALEY: “I want to be clear about something. I'm your governor. I was formerly your attorney general. For eight years, I investigated, prosecuted, and put away violent criminals, drug traffickers, gun traffickers, human traffickers. We all want safe communities, don't we? But, you know, having worked with law enforcement and standing here today with law enforcement, I want to be clear, the law I'm signing today is a public safety law.  It is a public safety law. (Applause) Because I don't know how anyone could look at what we see on TV and read in the news and hear from our neighbors, not just in Massachusetts, but around this country, I don't know how anyone could look at that and not say, ICE is making us less safe. ICE is making us less safe.”
