Abdul El-Sayed: We All Know that America’s 250 Years Weren’t Perfect — A Lot of it Was Built on Foundational Errors

‘And at the same time, I can’t help but appreciate the fact that I know what America gave me’

EXCERPT:

EL-SAYED: "But as I look in front of me, I already see the outcome of this campaign. A community of people who came together around a set of ideals, built on the foundation of what this government was supposed to be in the first place: government of the people, by the people and for the people. And as I think about where we sit in the long arc of our history, it’s hard not to reflect on the fact that we just commemorated 250 years. And we all know those 250 years weren’t perfect. We all know that a lot of that history was built on a set of foundational errors. And at the same time, I can’t help but appreciate the fact that I know what America gave me.”
