Caldwell on Maine Senate Race: The Money Challenge Is Going To Be a Big One for Troy Jackson

CALDWELL: "Yeah, this might arguably be the most difficult political environment that Susan Collins has run in. She has proven herself over and over again. She was obviously on the ballot in 2020, which was another difficult time for Republicans. And Senator Collins as well. But the environment perhaps is worse this time, and that‘s what she‘s going to really be running against. And that‘s her challenge. Um, but Republicans do point out that she polling when she ran in 2020, she was down in polling leading into that election too. She ended up winning by, by a significant amount. Um, and, you know, it is going to be a race when it comes to the money. What‘s interesting is when Graham Platner was, you know, after all the scandal and he was still on the ballot, hadn‘t dropped out yet, national Democrats said that they are going to take money and move it elsewhere. Um, there doesn‘t seem to be any indication that they‘re going to boycott Maine now that they‘re going to put they will put that money back in. Um, but the money challenge is going to be a big one for Troy Jackson. And also has running an outsider campaign. He‘s been a state legislator for 26 years. And so some of these attacks that they that some of the defenses that Graham Platner had. Troy Jackson doesn‘t necessarily have."
