Lee Carter: ‘Collapsing Trust’ in Institutions Is Fueling Political Radicalization

CARTER: “I’m just fascinated by what is happening to think in the 80s watching them tear down the wall and the collapse of communism and now we are seeing this rise in social them especially among young people on the left. My question is why? There’s a poll that came out this week from Gallup that looked at trusted institutions. We are with 9% of Americans that trust their government and all these institutions to keep us safe. When you look at that what it says to me is they have lost hope and they don’t feel like things are better for them and they don’t trust in the decisions and they are willing to it all up and go anti-establishment. The message the socialism is bringing talking about affordability and talking about how things seem unfair and the system seems rigged."
