Gen. Jack Keane: Americans Can Disagree With War Policy But Should ‘Want the United States to Succeed’

KEANE: “Opposition grew over time because I think and number of people did not see the progress they felt should be made. I want to relitigate that more. This was something completely different this was something on day one it started. That actually gave huge incentive to the Iranians because of political will is a major issue for eight president. After all war is fundamentally a test of will. They believe the pressure on the United States president, anything they can do to exploit that pressure economic pressure, is something they welcome. And they monitor it and take advantage of it to be sure they’re very sensitive. Russia is even better at it than with the Iranians are because a Russia has more capability to influence U.S. public opinion with the memes they have available in this country. You put your finger on something, it hurt our war effort in pursuing our objectives from day one. It stretches into not just being opposed to it but has overtones of wanting us to fail. That is on precedented I think you can disagree with the president in terms of their objectives in pursuing conflict operations. But you certainly want the United States to succeed at it."
