Hunter Walker: Journalists Face ‘Death Threats’ From White House Supporters For Reporting

Walker: “Yeah, I mean, I’m a former White House correspondent. And both in that role and also now as an investigative reporter, I’ve received death threats from the president’s supporters. I’ve received legal threats from members of Congress, from people who are now part of the administration. This is sort of becoming routine. And I think one of the things that’s a little bit disturbing about tonight is, you know, I could laud a lot of the work of my colleagues in the White House correspondents association. You know, as we were pointing out, the Epstein reporting from The Wall Street Journal, right, the reporting on Air Force One that got these times, times reporter subpoenaed. There’s a lot of good stuff that gets done. But the whole organization, and particularly this dinner, relies on sort of an old traditional D.C. politics. We expect the president to be normal. We expect some good natured ribbing. We expect that the people will understand that the press is objective. Right. And the problem is the whole notion of objectivity, first off, has changed. This is objectively authoritarian. Now certain things are objectively bad."
