AG Letitia James on NYC Stabbings: It’s Important that We Reaffirm that Hate and Violence Have No Place in New York

JAMES: “And it’s important that individuals understand that we will always fight for an individual’s right and that the Jewish community is seen and that the Jewish community is protected, and that I as the attorney general, as the law enforcement officer of the state of New York, will stand with the Jewish community and use every tool in my toolbox to protect them each and every day. And the same holds true for the Asian community as well. Hate will not be tolerated in this city and/or in this state. And it’s important that we say that loudly and clearly. It’s important that we reaffirm that hate and violence have no place in New York. So let us commit ourselves to doing the good and necessary work of standing up together, shoulder to shoulder, arm in arm, with no space between us. Hate will not be tolerated. I would hope and urge that the district attorney of Manhattan investigates this matter, as well as the police commissioner. I would hope that they would come back and report their findings to this community, and I would hope that justice will be served here in the city and in the state of New York. And I thank all of my colleagues for being here today, and I will continue to stand with the Jewish community and the Asian community whenever they call. Thank you."
