Scarborough: White Progressives Don’t Understand Just How Conservative the Black Churches Are

EXCERPT:

SCARBOROUGH: "Well, I think what you’re talking about, some of your conservative tendencies, it’s one of the problems that the Democratic Party, the white progressives, a lot of them that are activists, don’t understand just how conservative the black churches are, not only across the South, but across the country. And it’s why sometimes they miss where some of their most loyal voters are, where their hearts are. They don’t know how to speak to them because they think it’s this one great liberal monolith, and it just simply isn’t. Let me ask you about -- this is going to — we’re going to go the other direction now. Let me ask you for those watching who would say, 'Hey, the professor never says anything good about America. He never says, 'Oh, look at the great progress that’s been made,'' I take your point, I understand completely. A lot of people say, 'Oh, Barack Obama got elected. Chec. We can move on. Don’t want to hear anybody complain anymore,' etc., etc.. But, you know, Reverend Al comes on the show all the time and talks about the great progress that has, in fact, been made since 1964, 1965.”
