CNN: Trump DoJ Drops Subpoenas for NYT Reporters
EXCERPT:
HUNT: “Breaking news at this hour. The federal government has dropped subpoenas issued to multiple reporters. Hi, everyone. Welcome to The Arena. I‘m Kasie Hunt. Right now, a major reversal. Moments ago, the Justice Department withdrew subpoenas it obtained trying to compel three New York Times journalists to testify about the sources behind their reporting on the new Qatari-gifted Air Force One. Like CNN, the Times had reported that the new aircraft lacked some of the security capabilities of the previous Air Force One, leading the president to switch planes right in the middle of a trip to Turkey. Sources tell CNN that reporting embarrassed President Donald Trump and left him fuming. According to the Times, the subpoenas had been issued by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Jay Clayton, the very man nominated to be the next Director of National Intelligence.”
