Eugene Robinson on Trump: ‘It’s a Very Odd Choice’ To Make Fun of the Very Concept of Affordability
EXCERPT:
ROBINSON: “It's almost as if Donald Trump doesn't really care about the party or anybody else that only cares about himself. He actually did one thing, the numbers that I think the Republican party are perhaps, or they should be really concerned about, are those enthusiasm numbers, who's, who's really motivated to vote with an 11 point gap. Democrats are ahead by 11 points. I think that's why the new Republican theme is pointing at Democrats and saying they're all communists. They're all communists who are trying to generate a new red scare. And you know, in Georgia yesterday, President Trump did -- did do that. But then he kind of took it back with the way he talked about Iran and the way he talked about affordability, which he makes fun of. And that's a very, very odd choice, to make fun of the very concept of affordability when in fact it's a huge issue in the lives of most Americans.”
