Talarico on His Campaign: ‘There Has to Be Huge Conversations, There Has to Be Honesty’

‘So, one person seeking to represent the whole state, you‘ve got to do a lot of listening and learning’

RUSH EXCERPT:

TALARICO: “Those can be uncomfortable, sometimes. If you cannot take the heat, get out of the kitchen. I signed up for this job for being the nominee of the Democratic Party. When asking for the job of U.S. Senator. It means I need to face the people I need to represent, listen to them, hear from them. If they have concerns, feedback, even harsh feedback, I need to hear it directly. I‘m not afraid of these sometimes uncomfortable conversations. We will have more of them in communities across the state. Those of the growing pains of a healthy campaign and of an effective leader trying to listen and serve the people across the state. You all know that this is a giant state. It‘s incredibly diverse. So, one person seeking to represent the whole state, you‘ve got to do a lot of listening and learning. I am still very much in the process. Our campaign as a teenager now. Not an infant now. Remember when it was a baby campaign in September of last year? It‘s not a full-grown adult, hopefully that will be the case after labor day, but there are still growing pains.”
