Dem Sen. Warner on Iran: ‘I Think the President Ought to Declare Victory and Get out of This War of Choice’

EXCERPT:

WARNER: "Well, I think the president ought to declare victory and get out of this war of choice, because if you look at the four criteria he laid out at the beginning, regime change, well, not so good, we got a crowd that’s worse than ever. The enriched uranium, they’ve got it. It would take 15,000 troops on the ground, probably for over a week, to extract it. I don’t think anybody wants that. The missiles and drones, clearly, they’ve got that capacity. And what was so crazy is, this administration turned down the Ukrainian technology that has figured out how, on a cost-effective basis, to shoot down Iranian drones. And, hey, Strait of Hormuz, you know, gas is back at $4, diesel is above $5, and our image in that region in the world is at an all-time low. Back to China, a poll came out last week showing a China viewed more favorably than America around the world, even amongst our biggest allies. A lot of this was due to this folly of this war of choice. I could tell you, as a chair, former chair of the Intel Committee, there was no imminent threat from Iran. So it’ll  be embarrassing, but the president ought to declare victory and get out as smoothly as possible."
