SMITH: “We didn’t love the wars or how they were going, but there was a sense within the Bush Administration that there was a constitutional construct in a role for Congress and a role for the executive, and they were interested in trying to maintain that even as they pursued their own objectives. There’s no evidence whatsoever that Donald Trump and the top people in his administration care about any of that. And the only way, the only conclusion, based on everything else that’s going on, is they want to be dictator or they want he wants to be a dictator, not the democratically elected president of this country.”
