Van Hollen Says He Will Not Vote for One Penny for ‘Illegal, Senseless’ Iran War

VAN HOLLEN: “Well, John, I do know in the Senate the idea of moving through this process you describe as reconciliation is something that a lot of senators don’t want to do. Whether they end up doing that because the president insists on it, we’ll see. But I, for one, am not going to vote for one penny for this illegal, senseless war. And that’s why originally, the Pentagon and the president was talking about coming up with a supplemental. I think they recognized they didn’t get the votes; they didn’t have the votes. And so, now they’re looking for alternatives. But it’s not a done deal, not by any means, and as you say, at the end of the day, the real power of Congress has here is the power of the purse. And we should not be voting for more money for this illegal, senseless war.”
