Jonathan Swan: Justice Department Officials ‘Did Not Think’ They Had ‘A Strong Case’ Against Letitia James
RUSH EXCERPT:
SWAN: “Well, we still have courts in this country. We still have juries, we still have a system. And it’s of great frustration to him that some of these cases have been falling over. We write in the book, senior people in his Justice Department, including Todd Blanche, did not think that they had a strong case against Letitia James, for example, Trump wanted it to be known to the senior people, the DoJ, and we have this in the book, he said. Todd needs to understand that he doesn’t. Trump doesn’t really care if there’s a conviction. The process is the point. He wants to make her life miserable. And so even when yes, of course, he wants Letitia James behind bars, of course, he wants all of his people behind bars. But the fact that they’re having to spend money to go through the very painful process of investigation, prosecution, you know, the stress on the family, that is also sustenance for him”
