Krishnamoorti on Fair and Secure Elections: We Should Anticipate That Trump and His Loyalists Will Do Whatever to Meddle

KRISHNAMOORTI: "I was part of that exercise. It was eye opening, and I think I came away with several conclusions. One is that I think that we should anticipate that Trump and his loyalists are going to do whatever they can to try to meddle in the elections. So what does that mean for us right now? I think we have to work with folks in civic, civic, community and not for profits in terms of making sure that we continue to encourage people to vote early for the election, because I’m very concerned about Election Day stunts on the part of the administration. I think we have to work with our legal community to make sure that we can go with one voice into court at the appropriate times, if there are needs for injunctions or temporary restraining orders. And then finally, we have to do whatever we can in Congress to sound the alarm right now and conduct oversight with regard to the Trump Administration, whether it’s DHS or other entities such as the U.S. postal service, which is which is what I’m really focused on, on the Oversight Committee to make sure that they are not used as leverage for the Trump Administration trying to get a get a hold of voter registration rolls, or kind of meddling in mail in balloting and so forth. So those are the three broad strategies that we have to use right now."
