Hugo Lowell on Voter Rolls: It Sounds Like Republicans Have Communicated That the 2020 Election Discussion, Is Not Helpful for the Midterms

‘They care about, you know, gas prices as a result of Trump’s war of choice in Iran’

RUSH EXCERPT:
LOWELL: "Yeah, it does sound like vulnerable Republicans on the hill have communicated to the RNC and also people in Trump’s orbit that the discussion about the 2020 election is just not helpful for the midterms. There are so many other issues that their constituents care about. They care about, you know, gas prices as a result of Trump’s war of choice in Iran. They care about people inside the administration betting on country and making money, using kind of inside information to front run trades. Those are the two things that consistently come back as kind of touch points and concern points for senators and, frankly, kind of house races that are feeding back into Trump’s orbit. And so, you know, it’s always a balancing act, I think, for people in the admin, they have to balance, obviously, what Trump wants to put out there and distract from any negative headlines of the week in this case, probably the resumption of strikes in Iran with the fact that there are genuine issues that they have to grapple with for the midterms. And, you know, people in Trump’s orbit have been telling me for weeks that Trump has simply not been talking about the issues that they need to talk about. And, you know, maybe he can get it out of his system now. And as we get close to midterms, he can focus on on prices. But that has just not been happening."
