ROSS: “Well, I think what you’re seeing is President Trump is trying to convince the Iranians that he’s prepared to do much more. He’s prepared to go after things that are of great value to Iran, and he’s trying to do it in a way that then doesn’t trigger what the Iranians will do in response, which is to threaten critical infrastructure, oil, desalinization plants among the Arab states. We’re seeing the Iranians respond in kind by hitting the Kuwaiti desalinization plant. The message they’re sending is, the more you up the ante here, the more we have the option and capability to up the ante on the other side. If you hit some of the oil facilities on the other side, some of the specialized equipment could take months to repair, then you’re talking about a huge increase in oil prices.”
