Abdul El-Sayed: Democrats Aren’t Worried About Me Not Winning, They’re Worried that I Might Win

‘I am the best candidate to take on Mike Rogers and beat him’

EXCERPT:

EL-SAYED: “I think the worry is not that I can’t win. I think the worry is that I might. That’s what they’re worried about. Because if you look in poll after poll after poll after poll, I am the best candidate to take on Mike Rogers and beat him. It turns out that you, you know, believing in things and fighting for them, that actually works. And there’s this old theory of politics we keep using even despite the fact that history has proven it wrong too many times, this idea that we’re polarized from right to left and that the median voter sits somewhere in the middle and that, like, voters are walking around asking, I wonder where I stand on a left/right spectrum of politics. That’s not how people are thinking. They’re asking, damn, I can’t afford my groceries. I can’t pay my rent. Like, how am I sending my kid to this school and they still can’t read? Those are the questions that are animating people right now.”
