California A.G. Rob Bonta Files TRO and Preliminary Injunction to Block Paramount’s Takeover of Warner Bros.

BONTA: “You know, antitrust enforcement has long been nonpartisan, bipartisan. The U.S. DoJ, if you can imagine, that time and the FTC used to enforce across Republican administrations, democratic administrations, this current federal government is not interested. Not only are they not enforcing antitrust law, they‘re picking winners and losers. They‘re actually affirmatively doing harm. In our ticketmaster live nation case, we worked with a bipartisan group, Republican and democratic ags. Same with nexstar tegna. That is bipartisan. This one currently is not. It‘s 12 Democratic states that have brought the initial case. The case is just getting started, just filed today, additional attorneys general may still join. Hopefully there will be Republicans who join. I know that there have been some who‘ve vocalized criticism and concern about this proposed merger. Hopefully they‘ll turn that into action and join the case.”
