Buttigieg: ‘Our Union Is Made More Perfect by Each Generation’

‘They weren’t perfect, just like our country isn’t perfect’

EXCERPT:

BUTTIGIEG: “250 years ago this month, our Founders didn’t go to war to overthrow a king because they read John Locke and Rousseau and their studies and thought it would be neat to go try this stuff out someplace. They put their lives on the line to create something new in this world because they thought it would make everyday life better if the people were in charge of the government instead of the other way around.
(Applause)
And they were right. They weren’t perfect, just like our country isn’t perfect, but our union is made more perfect by each generation, and we’ll be damned if we let that fall apart on our watch.”
