Both in his office and over a meal and in places like Italy and Romania and Senator Graham made sure that we did play a role of being a good ally as well. We had high expectations of our allies in the NATO alliance. We want them to be stronger. We want them to invest in their own defense and therefore make the collective defense stronger but he also wanted to make sure the United States of America was showing up and that we were delivering on our promises and I think that was a good reminder for all of us that it is a two-way street. the United States expects our allies to do a lot but he reminds us that the United States needs to show up for our allies as well."
