Hugo Lowell on W.H. Denying Frustration with Patel: We Have Heard in Recent Months That He’s Pretty Secure in His Job Right Now
RUSH EXCERPT:
LOWELL: "I think everything that we have heard from trump world in recent months, and so this has not been specific to this particular weekend, but everything we have heard in recent months is that Kash Patel is pretty secure in his. Job now, if for no other reason than there’s not a clear successor, which is always a concern that the White House has, but also because Trump has felt hunkered down in recent weeks. The Iran war has not been going the way he wants it to. Mou and Iran deal talks have not been going as he wanted to. He’s embattled with some of the construction projects that he’s been doing. And so I don’t think there will be any personnel changes, for instance, that that might come at the top of the FBI. And also because the election integrity investigation that the FBI is doing is actually run by the deputy director and bailey. That being said, you know, the one other thing that is happening this weekend that is perhaps more concerning is the FBI moving to subpoena times reporters over the over the stories about the Air Force One situation. And so if you think about what has been going on in the last 24 hours, to me, what stands out more is the FBI director is going to the White House hours before shortly before the FBI sends agents out to reporters homes to issue subpoenas. And, you know, historically, when we’ve talked about this a lot, there is a firewall between the White House and the FBI and the Justice Department. And, in fact, during the Biden Administration, it was the Trump guys who were saying, you know, it would be extremely untoward for prosecutors or FBI officials to go to the White House to talk about active investigations. It does beg the question at this time whether the FBI director went to the White House to brief Trump about what could be coming down the pipeline in that investigation."
