Henninger on Republicans Amid Midterms: This Goes Back to McCarthy’s Speakership in 2023, When They Seemed To Be Engaged in a Civil War
RUSH EXCERPT:
HENNINGER: "Exactly right. As kim suggested, the president’s focus on the midterm election with the midterm elections are going to be decided by voters, the American people out there. To what extent does he imagine the American people are actually focus on what is going on? They don’t know anything about the SAVE Act or what reconciliation means they just want to see whether Congress is, or their party is moving in a positive direction. What you see in the Republican Party at the moment basically goes back to the fight over Kevin McCarthy’s speakership in 2023 when the Republicans were seen to be as basically engaged in a civil war. That is what this looks like and how that is supposed to produce turnout among Republicans and midterm elections remains a mystery. Keep in mind there’s only about two legislative weeks left in the house before they go out on August recess. All of those members at some point are going to say I am done. I’m going out there and fighting for my own seat."
