Nevada Sec. Of State: Trump Administration Doesn’t Realize How ‘Strong and Tough’ Democratic Secretaries Are; ‘We’re Ready for Battle’

AGUILAR: "And it’s putting the jeopardy of Nevada citizens at risk. These funds are to keep our state safe. And I think the governor’s responsibility is to understand this broader views, but to take away funding, because they’re treating us like a bad behaved child is just childish on their part. Again, it’s not understanding what really occurs at the ground level. the Constitution is very clear that states have the responsibility to run their elections. We do that in a very safe and secure way and then to start withholding funding. It’s just crazy to me. I think about the rural communities in Nevada. You know, they’re red counties. They are 90% Republican. These are the counties that are going to struggle the most without these resources. They’re already struggling to meet the expectations of their citizens. And as you start to rip away, it’s also, you know, I feel like we’re in a cage match in a ufc fight where they’re just trying to choke, hold us on everything that we tried to do. But again, they don’t realize how strong and tough I think democratic secretaries are. We’re ready for battle. We’re battle tested.”
