Allen Orr: Current Immigration Law Provides ‘No Avenues’ for Long-Term Residents Like Mr. Araujo

‘The problem is Congress has not reformed immigration since the 80s’

RUSH EXCERPT:

ORR: “What problem is? The problem is Congress has not reformed immigration since the 80s, and that our system has allowed these individuals to remain in our country because they knew that he was here because he had been paying taxes. Apparently, he’D had some fingerprints taken, much like the tps holders of the DACA holders. And there are no avenues within our current legislation. So Congress has failed to act. And knowing that these individuals have been here. So in equity, when you know someone’s there and it’s open and notorious, they have a right to remain because you’re not doing anything about it and have not done anything about it. This is not some 10 million or part of the 10 million that came across the border. This is someone who’s been here a long time, and it will need more than congressional hearings. They need to actually pass a law. And the American people need to stand up because, as we’ve just reported, it could have been you in this circumstance, getting shot and then having to fight, because we know that a person who is alive cannot defend themselves before any court of law. And we’ve seen this, again, not just with someone who’s undocumented, but also someone who’s a citizen. Because essential to this case is he was not the target. They did not know his immigration”
