FLORES: “Well, Katherine, my question is very simple to the congresswoman. What’s it going to take for Congress to exercise its subpoena power to get records, to get testimony, to get information from ice and DHS through their oversight role in in this case and in other cases like it around the country, because Congress does have that subpoena power. So what is it going to take for Congress to exercise this great power? And what she said is that she needs Republicans. And so I asked her, I said, so is the biggest hurdle for you right now in getting justice, transparency in this case is, is help from Republicans. And she said yes. And so then I followed up again and I asked, well, what is your message then for your Republican colleagues, since you do need them for transparency purposes? And she said that her message would be that this could happen to anybody and that this is just a grieving family. And, Katherine, it’s a sad day in America when you have to be affiliated with”
