Keith Kellogg: When You Talk About Boots on the Ground, You’re Not Talking About Invading Iran
EXCERPT:
KELLOGG: "That's right. And if they won’t listen to what we want them to do, this is what we’re going to do. He’s got options. He can take, for example, you heard about him potentially taking Kargh Island. And here’s the thing I want to make sure the American people know. When you talk about boots on the ground, you’re not talking about invading Iran. You’re talking about taking very strategic targets. And they can talk all they want about defending Kargh Island. We can take it, it's 16 miles offshore. We know it’s risky and there’s going to be some elements of risks to it. We can do it. We can take the islands in the Strait as well. We can do that with our marine amphibious groups as well. And we should do something like that. The third thing we should do is we can support a provisional government going into Iran, and basically, if the people want a change, they will have a provisional government they can go to. But here’s the one thing the president has to do. When he does that, I'd recommend strongly, go to the American people. They will support you. Talk to the American people. Tell them why you’re doing it. Don't listen to the noise around you, the other politicians out there. A lot of them are flat out cowards and they’re afraid of doing anything. It's why we've been living this for 47 years."
