Stephen A. Smith to Will Cain: You Can’t Act Like Republicans Haven’t Defended Trump, People Who Are Accused of Sexual Allegations
EXCERPT:
SMITH: "When you are talking about the Democrats, I’m not here to defend them. I cannot defend that soundbite from Elizabeth Warren, she got to defend that. I cannot defend Bernie Sanders defending him, he has to do it. I cannot defend any Democrats for sitting up there and defending this man considering the Nazi tattoo. That should have been enough, personally, let me be very, very clear, but especially in light of the allegations that came in the aftermath. I mean, my God, what took you so long? So certainly, they cannot be defended. But Will Cain will not sit here at 4:00 in the afternoon Eastern Standard Time and act like the Republicans haven’t tried to defend people in the past. Don’t get me started on Roy Moore, the Senate candidate out of Alabama in 2017. Don't get me started with your president and the myriad of allegations that he absolutely, positively swore were false, but nevertheless there were a bevy of allegations against him, not even to mention the conviction that we all know a lot of people believe that was politicized. Don’t get me started with the fact that Al Franken was a Democrat, was defended by some of the Republicans who felt that he shouldn't have resigned. So let’s not sit here and act like we are going to point at just one party and say, 'Them, them, them.' You are absolutely right, you hit the nail on the head in the end, Will Cain, when you say this: It's about power, capturing and maintaining it. And anything that positions the party to gain power, in all likelihood, they will do on both sides of the aisle.”
