LEMON: “When people say, ‘I’m proud to be an American’ — and there’s nuance. Am I proud to be an American? Overall, yeah, but in this moment, no. I mean, I am a proud American, but the embarrassment is about — I’m embarrassed to be an American right now in many places. No, I’m embarrassed — not in many places. I’m embarrassed. And the embarrassment was not about being proud. It was about what America is doing to itself right now in plain sight and is calling it greatness. There’s nothing great about this. This is embarrassing. And I sat there watching with people who are from different countries and they’re, like, all getting along, everybody watching the World Cup. And then you see what’s happening with America and you’re like, damn. We are embarrassing right now.”
