Sen. Cory Booker: Nominees ‘Refuse to Answer Any Questions’ About Their Judicial Views During Confirmation Hearings
RUSH EXCERPT:
BOOKER: “Yeah. Well, first of all, many of them in their legal writings beforehand will start trying to flag to Donald Trump. Hey, I’m very extreme on these issues. Then you get them before the Judiciary Committee and they refuse to answer any questions on their judicial opinions or biases they make. They make real affirmations. I’ll respect precedent. I’ll respect precedent. And, and it gives cover to many Republicans who are moderate and want to give an excuse to voting for them. And then they get on the court and they are overruling precedent, overruling precedent, precedent. We’ve seen it from Roe v Wade overturning that to this week overturning almost a century on the slaughter case. When it comes to independent commissions, this is a a one of the most biased courts. And I remind people it’s an anti-democratic court. Remember, five the majority of members there were appointed by a president that did not win the popular vote, that relic of the Electoral College, and they were confirmed by a Senate that is lopsided to where the Senate senators that voted for them represented a minority, even though they were in the majority, because, you know, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana have less people. They have 10 votes in the Senate, but they have less people than L.A. County. And so you get these weird perversions where we have”
