Nelson: “Well, you know, I I’m worried because I know what this type of sentiment has created for black and brown people who, just as Kavanaugh, with his Kavanaugh stops, have allowed ice agents to harass individuals who they suspect may be here illegally, there has been a growing sentiment of hatred toward black people generally, but especially black immigrants. And so I’m worried less about what the outcome will be in Congress because it is patently, unequivocally unlawful for Congress to try to rewrite the Constitution. But that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have negative effects in our society. When we start to act like people, belonging is up for debate when the Constitution makes it clear. And so that’s what I find most”
