Congressmen Reveal What Makes Them Most Proud To Be Americans Ahead of 250th Birthday
EXCERPT:
BALLASY: "We’re doing a video on 250, the anniversary. What makes you most proud to be an American right now?"
DOGGETT: "The fact that I believe Americans are ready to defend our democracy and oppose authoritarianism so that we can celebrate the 251st birthday in this country instead of turning all power over to a would-be king."
BALLASY: "Gallup has a poll, 53% -- only 53% are very patriotic right now. Why do you think that is?"
DOGGETT: "Well, I think there’s a lot of disillusionment associated with the corruption of this regime and its attempt to become a one-man rule. But Americans have every reason to be patriotic. I’m proud of this country. I’m proud of what it’s accomplished and what it can accomplish in the future if enough people engage this year to defend democracy. Thank you."
