Ben Ferguson: Solar and Wind Are Not Going to Fix Our Grid, Tax Dollars Shouldn’t Subsidize the Green New Deal
EXCERPT:
PHILLIP: "The president is paying — the president‘s administration is paying companies to stop producing windmills because he thinks that they kill birds. Okay? It‘s not because he thinks it‘s inefficient. He doesn‘t — because he thinks they‘re an eyesore and they kill birds. That's what he has said."
FERGUSON: "They are. But they're also ineffective energy producers compared to what we actually need. If you want a better grid — "
PHILLIP: "Okay. So let's spend taxpayer dollars — "
FERGUSON: " — it's not gonna be from windmills. Why should we subsidize it? If it‘s so good, the private sector should do it. These companies will do it if it makes money."
PHILLIP: "We are subsidizing the — we're subsidizing countries to stop producing energy. That also doesn‘t make sense. That's all I'm saying."
FERGUSON: "It makes a lot more sense than doubling down and sending money to companies that are doing something that has no impact on the grid in a positive manner. It‘s dragging it down. My tax dollars should not go to support or subsidize a Green New Deal tat is a disaster for the grid."
