Jay Leno on Problems with Late Night Television Today

‘It’s just common sense’

EXCERPT:

BALLASY: "Do you think when it comes to late-night there needs to be more jokes on both sides, not just on — "
LENO: "No, no. I — the problem with late-night is something else called streaming. You can watch an hour of your favorite star talk on a podcast rather than for six minutes on a late-night show. And plus, there’s so many commercials during late-night. That’s what is — I mean, everybody doing it, Colbert, Kimmel, Conan, they’re all very talented, they’re all good, but you can’t compete with an 8-minute break every six minutes. People just get — you know, I just switch over to something else. You know, I like 'Law and Order.' I can watch it on Peacock now uninterrupted. Oh, that’s great. Then I switch over to a late-night show and it's like, if I see Jake from State Farm again, I’m going to shoot myself in the head."
