David Drucker on Supreme Court Ruling on Birthright Citizenship: There’s A Lot to Feel Good About in that Decision
EXCERPT:
DRUCKER: “The president has tried to gather so much authority in his executive pen and just simply avoid going to Congress altogether. And the fact that it wasn’t just an unconstitutional thing that he wanted to affect, but the way he tried to affect it was also struck down, I thought really mattered. And I wanted to say one thing on the campaign finance ruling, for — for people that have lamented the rise of partisanship and extreme candidates and politicians on both sides of the aisle this ruling actually gives the parties more power while leaving untouched contribution limits, including the party committees, including the aggregate limits for people who are wealthy, where you can only give so much a year, no matter how which committees you parse it out to. And the Democrats are very good at raising money, particularly with camp — with the congressional campaign committees, the RNC, DNC difference is a consequence of who’s in the White House right now, in part. And so there’s a lot to feel good about in that decision if you think our politics has become unwieldy and — and partisan and extreme.”
