Rep. Jim Banks on Iran: ‘President Trump Has All the Leverage and He Is Using It’

BANKS: "Well, they don’t. And the good news in all of this is that President Trump won’t take a bad deal. It will either be a good deal for America or there is no deal at all. And you look at the parameters as they've been reported so far. Again, there is no deal yet. And America has the leverage. President Trump has the leverage. He's the first president who has negotiated on our terms with the Iranians. And what he has done already to decimate their military, their inflation is at 250%, they are desperate to take a deal. And if they don’t take a deal, there will be hell to pay. There were meetings all day long yesterday at the Pentagon with our nation’s military leaders, and I suspect that those meetings had a lot to do with what comes next if the Iranians don’t sign a deal that gives up ultimately their nuclear ambitions. No dust, no dollars. President Trump has made that very clear. If they don’t give up the enriched uranium, we aren’t going to lift the sanctions, we won't give in to them. President Trump has all the leverage and he is using it."
