N.C. Dem Party Chair Clayton Slams Republicans Over Robeson County: They Flipped It from Being a Democratic Stronghold

‘The RNC put a community center in Robeson County’

TRANSCRIPT:

CLAYTON: “The Lumbee community in southeastern North Carolina in Robeson County used to be a Democratic majority for a Native American population in the South that voted Democratic historically. They came in, Republicans, the RNC put a community center in Robeson County. The national Republican Party did this, right, in 2016. They saw the future of where they could gain seats in a place like North Carolina, and they did that. And right now, Robeson County has flipped from being a Democratic stronghold to a Republican stronghold, because that national party came in and put that emphasis there.”
