Scott Bessent: ‘We Had a Historic Tax Filing Season’

BESSENT: “We had a historic tax filing season. We passed the largest tax cuts in American history. The average refund this filing season is nearly $3,300, an 11 percent increase from last year. And importantly, very importantly, 62 million returns, 44 percent claimed at least one of the president’s signature tax cuts. No tax on tips, no tax on overtime, the reduced taxes on Social Security benefits, 85 percent of our seniors paid no taxes, and the auto deductibility on loans for American cars. And to remind everyone, Democrats, every Democrat, voted against those programs.”
