Mark Leibovich: Talarico’s Biggest Vulnerability Is He’s ‘a Complete Unknown’ So Republicans Will Define Him in the Most Crudest Terms

LEIBOVICH: “I think Talarico is obviously a very talented politician, as he has shown. Paxton obviously gives him a great deal of material to work with. But obviously, Talarico’s biggest vulnerability is that he’s a complete unknown. And Republicans are going to define him in the crudest, most, I assume, uncharitable and perhaps disingenuous way — disingenuously way possible. And, you know, they’re going to do a lot of damage to him. There’s just no question about it. And yes, they’re probably going to have to spend more money, Republicans are in Texas than they would in Ohio or Maine or — or in any other vulnerable state. But I do think that — that — look, they do have a lot of money. I think they probably won’t lose Texas because of money, I think they will lose Texas because of some combination of the national environment and Talarico’s talent and Paxton’s vulnerability.”
