Comer on Trump’s Ouster of Massie: We All Have Disagreements with Donald Trump
EXCERPT:
COMER: “Well, I think there were a lot of factors in that race. Certainly, Trump's endorsement for Gallrein and the amount of money that was spent was certainly a major factor in that race. But I agree with what Byron Donalds said. You know, the issue with Congressman Massie was the fact that it seems like he opposed the president on everything. We all have disagreements with Donald Trump. We all express our dissatisfaction with certain types of policies, whether they be, you know, certain tariffs or whether they be, you know, the situation in Iran. But at the end of the day, most of us Republicans, we want to support the president. We want an America First agenda. We want the president to be successful. We don't want Congress to be an impediment to the America First agenda. And it seemed like Thomas voted against the president on everything. In fact, I can't remember very many bills where he voted with the president. And in fact, he would vote against a procedural rule that would prevent us from even debating some of the president's bills. And that was even worse. You know, before a few years ago, the procedural votes were always partisan. The majority party voted one way and the minority party voted the other. But Thomas crossed over and voted with the minority party to block debate and to block procedure to move bills forward. So there was a lot of frustration from the president as well as leadership in the House.”
