Molly Jong-Fast: Ken Paxton Is a ‘Big Personality’; He’s ‘Trumpier than Trump’

JONG-FAST: “Yeah. And he may not even win. I think that — I would like to pull back to that adorable couple where they were like, his private life is not about this, because Angela Paxton, his now soon-to-be ex-wife, or just ex-wife, was actually a Texas state senator too. She did not vote to impeach him because she was not allowed to. The rules of the Senate are such. But, like, the idea that he could have a personal life and not a public life, when, in fact, his wife is also in the state Senate. I mean, that just seems preposterous to me. But yes, Paxton is a big personality, right? He is the ‘Trumpier than Trump’ type. And I think that that was popular with this primary electorate. But again, this emboldened Trump believes that winning red states’ state primaries is the same as winning in general elections. And I’m not sure when you look at those polls and when you look at Republican-leaning indies, that these two things are synonymous anymore.”
